Prices. Every case, key and drop is priced from the latest CSFloat listings. The whole ranking recomputes in one hourly run, last completed Oct 17, 2026, 2:00 AM. Doppler phase prices refresh on a slower multi-hour cycle, so a case whose top drop is a Doppler knife moves less often than the rest.

Cost to open. The case price plus a key at $2.49. The key is the assumption most worth knowing about: it is fixed, it is the larger share of the cost for most cases, and leaving it out is what makes case-opening look profitable when it is not.

Expected value. Every possible drop priced and weighted by its probability: the disclosed tier odds, an equal pick within each tier, the measured wear distribution remapped onto each skin's own float range, and the 10% StatTrak rate. Drops with no live price are excluded and the remainder reweighted, so a case is ranked on the outcomes that could actually be priced. A case where more than 10% of the drop probability has no price is left out of the ranking entirely rather than ranked on a guess.

Expected return and profit chance. Expected return is the expected value against the cost to open, net of that cost, so 0% is break-even and anything below it loses money on average: -30% means a typical opening returns 70 cents on the dollar. Profit chance is the share of the probability mass whose drop is worth more than the cost to open. The two answer different questions: a case can have a low profit chance and a high expected return because one rare drop carries it.

What this is not. Opening a case is a single random draw, not an average. Almost every case returns less than it costs, the odds are community-verified estimates from Valve's regional disclosure rather than official figures, and nothing here is a reason to open cases. It is a comparison between cases, and the honest summary of it is that the house edge is large and consistent.
